There used to be a thing called film. It was very expensive and only the dedicated, talented, and well-funded could use it to document their lives.

There used to be a thing called publishing. It was an elite club of book nerds who had sometimes internalized to poor result what must have been some brutal years on the junior high playground.

It’s different now. Anyone can fill up virtual space with virtually anything they see, or think, or feel. That means a lot of grumpy cats and lolspeak, but also some creative new ways of recording the world. If libraries are gardens and books are windowboxes, maybe blogs are tiny hothouses where many seeds are scattered, some to flourish, some to litter the floor.
